The Town of Brookline’s draft Ice Rink Task Force Feasibility Study Report has been posted. The link is at: https://www.brooklinema.gov/1985/24025/Ice-Rink-Feasibility-Study  The Town’s Parks and Recreation Commission has been encouraging public input on this project.   The deadline for comments on this Task Force Study is December 31, 2021, and can be sent to parks@brooklinema.gov

Summary: The Special Task Force discusses the idea to build a large recreational complex on the S.E. side of the summit of Larz Anderson Park, Brookline (a glacial drumlin), and includes additional parking areas and road layout. The complex will include two NHL regulation size hockey rinks (1 outdoor and 1 indoor) connected by a two level support building that will feature a large open communal room for concessions, warming, meeting, and skate changing, meeting rooms, and administrative offices. It is important to note that there is discussion about expanding the use of the facility on a year-round basis for a wide range of activities including, but not limited to, personal fitness, pickle ball, field hockey, camping, and function use for community gatherings, family events.  It also discusses the possible use as a splash pad and/or swimming pool.

Though the sports development project is in Brookline, it will abut Boston and the Jamaica Hills residential neighborhood.
