Time: 7:00 PM neighborhood social followed by meeting at 7:30 PM

Monthly meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month, unless otherwise noted. The JHA does not have meetings in July and August.

Annual Meeting Programming
(1) Neighborhood Design Overlay District Proposal
At the JHA’s Annual Meeting* this month we will discuss a recent proposal that a neighborhood resident submitted to the Boston Redevelopment Authority to subject the Jamaica Hills residential area to a Neighborhood Design Overlay District (NDOD). According to Article 55, Section 28 of the Boston zoning code, “Neighborhood Design Overlay Districts are established to protect the historic character, existing scale, quality of the pedestrian environment, character of the residential neighborhoods, and concentrations of historic buildings within the Neighborhood Design Overlay Districts.” Our panel of speakers on May 12 include:
Applicant Peter Welsh, who will explain his reasons for filing the proposal
Boston Redevelopment Authority staff, who will explain the NDOD proposal process, the public meeting phases, and the permitting process changes under an NDOD:
* Richard Shaklik, Deputy Director of Zoning
* Michael Cannizzo, Senior Architect and Urban Designer
* Ines Soto-Palmarin, Senior Planner, Jamaica Plain
Colleen Keller, the Neighborhood Services Coordinator for Jamaica Plain, will comment briefly on her experience with existing Neighborhood Design Overlay Districts in Jamaica Plain.
(2) Election of the JHA Board of Directors for the 2010-2011 Term
A list of candidates, presented by the nominating committee and approved by the Board, has been submitted for election by the membership at our Annual Meeting.
